Nitin Raut said, "People should keep in mind that these bills are for three months in lockdown. Power outages were high during the lockdown. The use of electronic devices such as TVs and fans increased. The demand for electricity increases in summer. Another thing is that MERC has increased electricity rates in April. Those rates have been applied. If you compare this month's bill with last year's bill, you will find that the electricity bill is reasonable.
A meeting is being held in Mumbai this afternoon. In this meeting, we will discuss and decide how to provide relief to the power consumers, said Nitin Raut.
Although electricity is essential, its price is not decided by the government, it is decided by the MERC. We supply electricity to the consumers by taking electricity from the private sector through the Central Government. Therefore, it is not correct to say that we will not pay if electricity rates go up. When he uses electricity, he has to pay the bill. "We are trying to help the customers. Even if the electricity bill of the industry is Rs 10,000, even if some of it is paid, their electricity will not be cut off," he assured.

नागपूर : राज्यात गेल्या काही दिवसांत अनेक ग्राहकांना वीज बिलाचा ‘शॉक’ बसला आहे. आधीच कोरोनात रोजगाराचं संकट, त्यात वीज बिल जास्त आल्यानं अनेकांवर मोठं संकट ओढवलं आहे. लॉकडाऊनच्या काळात विजेचा घरगुती वापर जास्त झाला आहे. शिवाय विजेचे दरही वाढले आहेत. त्यामुळे ग्राहकांना विजेचं बिल जास्त आलं आहे. नितीन राऊत म्हणाले, “लोकांनी लक्षात घेतलं पाहिजे की ही बिलं लॉकडाऊनमधील तीन महिन्याची आहेत. लॉकडाऊनमध्ये विजेचा वापर जास्त झाला. टीव्ही, फॅन यासारख्या इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उपकरणांचा वापर वाढला. उन्हाळ्यात विजेची मागणी वाढतेच. दुसरी गोष्ट म्हणजे MERC ने एप्रिलमध्ये विजेचे दर वाढवले आहेत. ते दर लागू झाले आहेत. मागील वर्षीच्या या महिन्याच्या बिलाची आणि यंदाच्या बिलाची तुलना करुन पाहिली तरीही हे वीज बिल माफक आहे हे लक्षात येईल”.
आज दुपारी मुंबईत याबाबत बैठक होत आहे. या बैठकीत आम्ही चर्चा करुन, वीज ग्राहकांना दिलासा कसा देता येईल, असा निर्णय घेऊ, असंही नितीन राऊत यांनी सांगितलं.
वीज ही अत्यावश्यक असली, तरी त्याचे दर सरकार ठरवत नाही, ते दर MERC ठरवते. खासगी उद्योगाकडून केंद्र सरकारच्या मार्फत वीज घेऊन आम्ही ती ग्राहकांना पुरवतो. त्यामुळे वीजेचे दर वाढले तर आम्ही देणार नाही हे म्हणणं योग्य नाही. वीज जेव्हा वापरतो, तेव्हा त्याचं बिल द्यायला हवं. आम्ही ग्राहकांना मदत करण्यासाठी प्रयत्न करत आहोत, ज्या उद्योगांचं वीज बिल समजा दहा हजार रुपये आलं असलं, तरी त्यापैकी काही रक्कम भरली तरी त्यांची वीज कट केली जाणार नाही, याची दक्षता आम्ही घेत आहोत, असं आश्वासन नितीन राऊत यांनी दिलं.
